On Saturday, May 20th, our 6th annual Bourque Family Foundation 7.7k was hosted at Tuscan Village in Salem, NH. This new location for the 7.7K brought an incredible group of runners and walkers, including many returning participants, as we were able to host over 640 individuals to be a part of the 7.7K, 5K, and Mites Fun Run. The day was celebrated with a post-race party, where participants found food, drinks, and live music performed by the talented Mica Peterson. We were joined by many of our friends from the Boston Bruins, including John Horrigan, Announcer for the Boston Bruins Alumni, Todd Angilly, Anthem Singer of the Boston Bruins, and Blades, Boston Bruins Mascot.
With the help of our participants, the Bourque Family Foundation was able to make a donation of $15,600 to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem, which is funding 6 full scholarships for their Summer Camp that benefit the youth of Salem and beyond. This program makes an impact on summer learning loss that many children experience during summer break, as well as keep local children engaged and active throughout the summer in a fun and safe environment.
Every registered participant, walking or running, received a medal and t-shirt commemorating their completion and support. Post-race celebrations took place outside the Tuscan Village Market and included a free beer from Samuel Adams and wood-oven fired pizza by Tuscan Market at the Samuel Adams Beer Garden. With rain on the forecast for the afternoon, we were fortunate for the perfect running weather of a cool overcast.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us for our 6th annual 7.7K Road Race! It was our largest race to date and would not have been possible without our generous sponsors, runners, walkers, and donors. Thank you all for your dedication and support of the Bourque Family Foundation.
