The Fight Against ALS
The relationship between the Frates family and the Bourque Family started when Pete Frates was just a kid. Pete idolized Ray Bourque as a young athlete growing up, and on top of that they shared a birthday.
Shortly after Pete was diagnosed with ALS, Pete was able to cross off a bucket list item by joining Ray Bourque at Tresca for dinner, and the bond was instant. Since that evening, the Bourque family and Frates family have become close friends, and Ray has worked to intertwine his charitable efforts with the fight against ALS and the Frates family’s goals.
Because of this, the Frates family and Bourque family have teamed up to support the fight against ALS through the Bourque Family Foundation Captain’s Ball in honor of Pete Frates to benefit the Peter Frates Family Foundation and the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at MGH.
